Hyderabad: Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) President N Uttam Kumar Reddy alleged that the TRS can’t win a single election without using money power, and said the ruling party “engineered large scale defections” in Nizamabad to win the MLC elections.

Addressing a press conference through video-conference on Tuesday, Uttam Kumar Reddy said that even after being in power for almost seven years, ‘TRS was still too weak to fight elections on its own.’ “TRS leaders are engulfed with fear of defeat in every election. For the same reason, they depend on defections from other parties to win elections,” he said.

Uttam Kumar Reddy ridiculed Finance Minister T Harish Rao’s statement that the TRS had massive support in Dubbak Assembly constituency. “If Harish Rao is so confident of TRS victory in the by-election, why is he making Congress leaders defect to TRS?” he asked, and expressed confidence that Congress candidate Cheruku Srinivas Reddy would win the election with a huge majority.

Referring to the Nizamabad Local Constituency MLC polls, Uttam Kumar Reddy said TRS engineered large scale defection of elected representatives from Congress and other parties to increase the winning margin.

Demanding compensation for farmers who lost standing crops in the heavy rains, the Congress leader demanded that the State government pay compensation of Rs 20,000 per acre for paddy and Rs 30,000 per acre for cotton crops.
