Hyderabad: TRS Vidyarthi wing leaders on Saturday slammed the BJP leaders for their lack of commitment towards upliftment of Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) and Other Backward Classes (OBCs). They stated that the BJP which failed to implement reservations in the States ruled by it, has no moral right to demand the same in Telangana State. They pointed out that the TRS government in the State was implemented more welfare schemes for the weaker sections than the BJP-ruled States and even the Central government.

Addressing the mediapersons at TRS State headquarters in Telangana Bhavan here, TRSV State president Gellu Srinivas Yadav said no professor or assistant professor was appointed as per the EWS reservations in Benaras Hindu University under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Varanasi Parliamentary constituency. “There are only nine OBC professors in the 40 Central Universities across the country. Due to the Centre’s failure to implement OBC reservation of 27 per cent in NEET, students from backward classes lost about 11,027 seats in undergraduate and postgraduate medical as well as dental courses. The BJP and ABVP leaders should first question these issues before making baseless allegations against Telangana government,” he said.

Further, Srinivas Yadav pointed out that despite repeated suggestions from Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao for creating separate Ministry for OBCs in the Union government, there has been no response from the BJP government. He alleged that the BJP and ABVP leaders were calling for blockading the Ministers’ Quarters only for political mileage ahead of elections in the State, but have no real commitment. He demanded that BJP OBC Morcha national president K Laxman should clarify on the injustice done by the BJP government to the EWS and OBCs, before criticising the State government which was implementing numerous welfare schemes for the backward classes.
