Hyderabad: The Rajendranagar police on Tuesday arrested Masood Bin Mahmood, the driver of the truck which crushed to death a woman pedestrian at the Dairy Farm crossroads last Thursday. He was charged with culpable homicide not amounting to murder, police said.
The victim Balamma (36), a resident of Manikyamma Colony in Rajendranagar, was walking with her eight-month-old son, when Mahmood’s truck mowed her down. While she died on the spot, the child escaped with minor injuries.
The Rajendranagar police said the driver drove in a reckless manner and after the accident, did not stop the vehicle or shift the injured to hospital.
“Due to his rash attitude, the pedestrian succumbed to injuries on the spot. The entire incident is captured on CCTV,” police said, adding that Mahmood inhumanly fled from the spot. He was produced before court and remanded in judicial custody.
