Hyderabad: The 2022-23 budget session of Telangana State Legislative Assembly and the Council will commence at 11.30 am on Monday. Finance Minister T Harish Rao will present the State Budget for 2022-23 in the Assembly on the first day of the session. This will be the second meeting of the eigth session of the second Telangana Legislative Assembly and also the second meeting of the 18th session of the Telangana Legislative Council.

Accordingly, arrangements are being made for smooth conduct of the budget session. The Assembly Speaker Pocharam Srinivas Reddy and the Council Pro-tem Chairman Syed Aminul Hasan Jafri held a review meeting in this regard at the Assembly Committee Hall on the State Legislature premises on Saturday.

On the occasion, the Speaker directed the police authorities to make adequate security arrangements for the smooth conduct of the upcoming budget session of the Legislature starting March 7. He wanted the police officials to take fool-proof measures to ensure that there was no scope for any unwarranted incidents as witnessed in other States during the budget session.

Compared to other States, he said the proceedings in the Telangana Legislature were a transparent and efficient affair. He sought the support of members and authorities in conducting the budget session peacefully and successfully. Just like the previous sessions, he wanted the government to appoint special nodal officers on behalf of the respective departments in the Assembly and provide all the information sought by the members at the earliest. He asked them to ensure that all answers to questions raised by the members in the previous meeting are sent immediately.

Though the Covid-19 impact is on the decline, Srinivas Reddy instructed the members and officials to strictly follow the Covid protocol. He said all measures should be taken for effective implementation of Covid guidelines during the session. He appreciated the State government, medical and health officials for their efforts in effectively curbing Covid-19 cases in the State. The Health department has been directed to establish a Covid-19 testing centre on the Assembly premises to examine those who are suffering with any symptoms.

Government Chief Whip Dasyam Vinay Bhaskar, Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar, DGP M Mahender Reddy, Legislature Secretary V Narasimhacharyulu and other top officials were present.
