Khammam: With the implementation of Palle Pragathi, the villages are becoming model villages in the country, asserted Transport Minister Puvvada Ajay Kumar. Under the leadership of Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, rural parts in the State are thriving with cleanliness, greenery and emerging as self-sufficient areas, he said. The Union Health Ministry had recently declared Telangana villages were healthy and free from viral diseases, he said.
Ajay Kumar along with Wyra MLA Lavudya Ramulu Naik took part in Palle Pragathi programme and inaugurated Vaikunta Dhamam and Palle Prakriti Vanam at Nukalampadu in Enkoor mandal in the district on Wednesday.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said in the past there were occasions wherein the elected members were forced to approach Ministers even for Rs 1 lakh fund for infrastructure development in the villages. Now with the Chief Minister’s initiative monthly funding to each gram panchayat towards development works was released without being asked. The State government was releasing Rs 369 crore directly to around 12,769 villages every month, Ajay Kumar explained.
Tankers, trolleys and tractors were provided to every village to keep the villages clean and green. The residents with the support of officials have to make collective efforts to develop their villages into ideal villages.
Vaikuta Dhamams were set up in the villages so that funerals could be conducted at one place with dignity and bio-fencing should be developed around them. With the Mission Bhagiratha the problem of contaminated water and waterborne disease was addressed, he suggested.
At a time when tanks and ponds in the villages were being encroached upon, the Chief Minister’s determination helped to protect them and turn them into water hubs for the villages through the Mission Kakatiya scheme
As per the directions of the Chief Minister the officials have to visit the Dalit colonies and find out their problems in the current phase of Palle Pragathi, Ajay Kumar noted. District Collector RV Karnan, Rythu Bandhu Samithi convener, N Venkateswara Rao and others were present.
