Mulugu: With an aim to provide employment to the backward tribal community people, the authorities of the Telangana State Girijan Cooperative Corporation (TSGCC) Limited will be opening two fuel stations in Mulugu district and set up 13 more bunks in Mulugu, Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Mahabubabad and Warangal Rural district.

According to the official sources, the 85 to 90 per cent of works of the setting up of the petrol bunks, one at Veerabhadravaram of Venkatapuram (Nuguru) mandal in Mulugu district and the other at  Gangaram in Mahabubabad district, have been completed. It is said that the GCC had been allotted land at 13 other places under the Integrated Tribal Development Agency (ITDA), Eturnagaram, jurisdiction.

Except for Venakatapur mandal near Mulugu town, all the eight mandals are going to have the GCC petrol bunks soon. The GCC has entered into agreements with the IOL, BPL and HPL to set up the petrol bunks. As many as seven employees (six pump attendants and one supervisor) will be recruited for each petrol bunk.  When contacted, ITDA, Project Officer (PO), Hanumant K Zendage said that the works of the petrol bunks were going on.

The officials said that the GCC is trying to augment its income and help the tribals through different initiatives besides the procurement of Minor Forest Produce (MFP) like Mahua flower by paying remunerative prices. Setting up of the fuel stations will be a win-win situation for all the stakeholders.

It will cater to the fuel requirements of people living in remote tribal areas and also help the latter from falling prey to exploitation by unauthorised roadside petrol vendors.
