TSRTC bus hits bike; pregnant woman dies, husband injured in Hyderabad

According to the police, the two had gone for a regular checkup at a private hospital in Hyderguda and were returning home around 10 am when the mishap occurred.

Hyderabad: In a tragic accident, a pregnant woman, who was returning after consulting a doctor along with her husband, was killed while the husband suffered serious injuries when a TSRTC bus hit their motorcycle at Himayathnagar here on Wednesday morning.

The woman was identified as Shalini Goud (35), wife of Satish Goud (37), a private employee from Bakaram in Gandhinagar. According to the police, the two had gone for a regular checkup at a private hospital in Hyderguda and were returning home around 10 am when the mishap occurred.

“The couple and the bus had started moving after the signal turned green at the Himayathnagar Junction. When the couple’s bike slowed down to take a turn ahead, the bus driver, who was driving in a rash and negligent manner, hit the bike from behind. The couple came under the right tyre in the front and suffered grievous injuries,” police said.

On noticing them, Mallesh, a traffic constable responded and helped in shifting them to hospital, where Shalini died while under treatment later in the day.

The Narayanaguda police, who had first booked a case of negligence causing injuries, have altered the case to one of negligence causing death.
