Nalgonda: Regional Manager of Nalgonda of Telangana State Road Transportation Corporation (TSRTC) Rajendra Prasad, who has so far donated blood 33 times and plasma four times, was an inspiration for others at the mega blood donation camp jointly organized by TSRTC and Red Cross Society at Nalgonda bus stand on Tuesday.
Over 150 persons including RTC employees and youth donated blood at the blood donation camp.
Rajendra Prasad inaugurated the blood donation camp in a different way by donating blood first. An announcement that the Regional Manager has donated blood 33 times motivated RTC employees and youth to participate in the blood donation camp. He also removed apprehensions among the blood donors who felt uneasy after donating blood, with his words.
Speaking to Telangana Today, Rajendra Prasad said he started donating blood in 1982 when he was a student and has been donating blood two to three times every year till now. “Donating blood gives life to a person in an emergency condition. After getting a job in RTC, I have been donating blood on occasions like road safety week and zero accidents week every year without fail,” he said.
After recovering from COVID-19 in July, 2020, he donated plasma four times in three months.
He said that mega blood donation camps were conducted at RTC bus stands in Kodad, Suryapet, Miryalaguda and Yadagirigutta in the region on Tuesday. Free one-day bus passes were also extended to non-RTC employees who donated blood at the camps. RTC drivers, conductors and staff of depots also voluntarily participated in the mega blood bank, he added.
