TT impact: School Education department releases school grant
A total of Rs.36.43 crore has been released for 26387 schools as the first 50 per cent grant. A proceeding to this effect has been issued by School Education director EV Narasimha Reddy on Thursday.
Hyderabad: The School Education department released the composite school grant for the government and local body schools, KGBVs, Model Schools, Tribal welfare schools and sports schools in the State for the academic year 2024-25.
A total of Rs.36.43 crore has been released for 26387 schools as the first 50 per cent grant. A proceeding to this effect has been issued by School Education director EV Narasimha Reddy on Thursday.
The issue of schools not receiving grants was highlighted in these columns ‘Govt schools have no funds to even buy chalk!’ On Thursday.
The composite school grant is meant for purchasing stationery, including chalk pieces, dusters, white papers, registers etc. The grants are also used for celebrating national festivals i.e., Independence Day and Republic Day besides for paying the electricity bills and internet charges in the school.
Every year, the department releases the grant to schools in the month of June.
The department has also released Rs.12.42 crore towards the physical education grant for 26,387 schools.
