Hyderabad: Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) has decided to close the footsteps path from Alipiri to Tirumala from June 1 to July 31. The closure is to facilitate reconstruction of the cover of the entire path. However, devotees who would like to reach Tirumala on foot could still go on foot from Srivari Mettu to Tirumala, TTD said here on Wednesday. The authorities will organise free transport up to Srivari Mettu for the convenience of devotees who wish to reach Tirumala on foot.
Thousands of devotees take the footsteps path every day to reach Tirumala to fulfil their vows. The ancient footsteps path has 3,550 steps covering a distance of nearly 12 kilometres. The other footsteps path from Srivari Mettu to Tirumala has 2,388 steps covering a distance of around 2.1 kilometres.
