Turncoat MLA Mahipal Reddy in a spot of bother over visiting Gandhi Bhavan
His entry into Gandhi Bhavan will confirm that he has joined the Congress, a fact that he and other turncoat MLAs have been denying since it would provide evidence for their disqualification
Sangareddy: Patancheru MLA Gudem Mahipal Reddy appears to be in a spot of bother over appearing before the two-member committee constituted by Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee president Mahesh Goud to look into the internal differences of the party in Patancheru.
The issue, which is being discussed in political circles in the erstwhile Medak district and at Gandhi Bhavan, arose since Mahipal Reddy’s entry into the Gandhi Bhavan would confirm that he has joined the Congress, a fact that he and other turncoat MLAs have been denying since it would provide evidence for their disqualification.
Mahipal Reddy won the 2023 Assembly election on BRS ticket by defeating Congress candidate Kata Srinivas Goud. Following the Congress cadre’s attack on Mahipal Reddy’s camp office in Patancheru on January 23, Mahesh Goud constituted a two-member committee comprising party whip Aadi Srinivas and TPCC vice-president MRG Vinod Reddy to look into the issue.
The two-member committee visited Patancheru on Sunday evening and interacted with Srinivas Goud, mandal presidents in the constituency and spoke to DCC president Nirmala Jagga Reddy as well.
After talking to them, Aadi Srinivas said they would summon Srinivas Goud and Mahipal Reddy to Gandhi Bhavan in the next two days. While Srinivas Goud met the committee in Gandhi Bhavan on Monday, the committee is expected to meet Mahipal Reddy on Tuesday or Wednesday. However, it is unsure whether Mahipal Reddy is willing to visit Gandhi Bhavan. The MLA has reportedly insisted on meeting the leaders in a private place to avoid visiting Gandhi Bhavan.
The committee is likely to speak to other leaders in the district, including Minister Damodara Raja Narasimha, TPCC working president T Jagga Reddy and others to resolve the issues between Mahipal Reddy and Srinivas Goud.
