Twelve held for circulating fake Rs 500 notes in Mancherial’s Luxettipet
Mancherial police have arrested 12 members of an inter-state gang for circulating counterfeit Rs 500 notes in Luxettipet. Fake currency worth Rs 5.98 lakh, mobile phones and cars were seized.
Mancherial: Twelve persons belonging to an inter-state gang were arrested for circulating counterfeit currency notes in denomination of Rs 500 in Luxettipet on Sunday night. Police seized fake currency notes with a face value of Rs 5.98 lakh, 12 mobile phones and three cars from them. Two more accused persons were absconding.
Briefing details of the arrest to media persons, Mancherial ACP R Prakash said that Kanuganti Kranthi, Gadigoppula Ravinder, Thandra Prakash, Kona Madhukar, Sunka Suresh, Kamani Anil, Bandari Satyanarayana, IH Ramu Naik, Kandimalla Thirupathi, Golla Kumara Swamy, Nagunuru Ramu and Devanaboina Sampath Kumar, all from Mancherial, Peddapalli and Siddipet districts. Ramu and Ravi, both from Kakinada were still at large.
On being interrogated, Kranthi and others reportedly admitted to duping commercial establishments by buying fuel, groceries and commodities using the fake currency procured from Ramu and Ravi. They disclosed that they bought fuel from a station in Luxettipet recently by giving the counterfeit cash.
