Nirmal: At least a dozen persons sustained injuries after being attacked by stray dogs at Mudhole mandal centre on Sunday.
Locals said 12 persons from different parts of the mandal centre were injured after a pack of stray dogs bit them, while a calf was also wounded in the incident.
Nine of the injured were forced to seek treatment at a government hospital in Bhainsa due to the lack of medicines at the primary health centre in Mudhole. Three other victims visited another primary health centre in the neighbouring Thanur mandal centre.
Residents regretted that stray dogs had become a serious cause for concern. They said the animals were attacking locals at regular intervals, forcing people to hesitate before stepping out even for buying groceries and other day to day activities. They urged civic officials to address the problem at the earliest.
On January 5, about 30 people sustained injuries when stray dogs attacked residents in different colonies of Bhainsa town.
