Hyderabad: Two persons, who allegedly duped several people on the pretext of offering health insurance, were arrested on Thursday. The police seized two computers, three mobile phones, three fake certificates and other documents from them.
The arrested persons were identified as Gopikrishna Venkatakrishna Vasu (32) and Natarajan Arumugam (36), both from Tamil Nadu.
Hyderabad Commissioner’s Task Force (DCP) P Radha Krishna Rao said the two set up a call centre at Trimulgherry and hired a few tele-callers. The callers would contact the people and lure them with a health policy offered by their company ‘United India Health Organization’ at a discounted price and collect between Rs 5,000 and Rs 10,000 from them.
“The gang collected money from several persons on the pretext of providing family discount health insurance policy cards at low annual premium and smart money investment plans,” the DCP said, adding that after collecting the money, they shut down the office and went absconding.
Previously, the gang had cheated several persons in Chennai and the two suspects were arrested.
