Hyderabad: The Uppal police arrested two persons within six hours for allegedly murdering P Sudheer Kumar, an AR Constable and a resident of the Uppal area, following a dispute at Chilkanagar on Sunday night.
Officials said the murder was allegedly triggered by a recent dispute between the victim and the suspects over phone calls related to a house-warming function.
According to police, the suspect Banothu Santosh alias Santhu (28), a Rapido rider, and Podishetty Tarun (22), a car driver, allegedly lured Sudheer Kumar to the Chilkanagar ground around 7.30 pm on March 15. When the Constable questioned Santosh over abusive remarks during an argument, Santosh reportedly attacked him with a knife.
As Sudheer tried to flee, both accused chased him and stabbed him multiple times, killing him on the spot before fleeing.
The incident came to light after K Srikanth, Sudheer’s brother-in-law, rushed to the spot upon receiving information about the quarrel and found him lying in a pool of blood.
Based on his complaint, the Uppal police registered a case and launched a search operation. The two suspects were traced and apprehended on March 16.
Police also seized the knife used in the crime, two mobile phones, a motorcycle and the clothes worn by the suspects.
