Two cops suspended for thrashing driver in Sangareddy
A video of the police personnel kicking the driver went viral on social media platforms, prompting the Superintendent of Police S Chandrashekar Reddy to take immediate action
Sangareddy: Even as the Telangana government and police department are batting for friendly-policing, a team of police personnel attached to Sadasivpet police station beat up a DCM driver badly over a petty issue.
A video of the police personnel kicking the driver went viral on social media platforms, prompting the Superintendent of Police S Chandrashekar Reddy to take immediate action. The SP suspended a constable and a home guard involved in the incident besides attaching an ASI and another constable to headquarters until further inquiry.
According to Sadasivpet police, they were conducting regular check-ups at Sai Baba Temple in Sadasivpet town when they stopped MD Majid, who was driving his DCM towards Singur. When they asked him to stop, he tried to flee from the spot.
The eyewitness said that one of the personnel had let Majid go while another personnel obstructed the way. They pulled Majid out of his vehicle and beat him black and blue with lathi and kicked him.
Later, he was taken to the police station. The SP initiated action within hours of the incident being reported.
