Two drown in LMD while fishing near Karimnagar

Two residents of Karimnagar drowned in Lower Manair Dam while fishing near Alugunur on Wednesday. One slipped into the water and the other drowned while trying to save him. Police retrieved the bodies and registered a case based on family’s complaint

Karimnagar: Two persons drowned in the Lower Manair Dam (LMD) near Alugunur in Thimmapur mandal on Wednesday.

The victims, Syed Firoz (52) and his nephew Rizwan (20), both residents of Karimnagar town, had gone to the reservoir for fishing. Rizwan reportedly slipped and fell into the water. Firoz jumped in to rescue him but both drowned.

Locals attempted to save them but were unsuccessful. On receiving information, LMD police reached the spot and retrieved the bodies. LMD CI G Sadan Kumar and SI Srikanth Goud visited the site and conducted an initial inquiry.

Police registered a case based on a complaint from the family. The bodies were shifted to the district headquarters hospital for postmortem.
