Sangareddy: Siddipet district has recorded two filaria cases in the year 2021. The district has 7,723 active cases of filaria of which 2,607 were getting Aasara pension.
According to Dr K Kondaiah, Community Health Officer, Siddipet, said that most of the cases in the district were reported long back. A majority of them were getting elderly pension or physically challenged persons pension before the government introduced pension for Filariasis patients in the State.
Mass drug administration
In Sangareddy district, no new cases were reported in the year 2020 and 2021. However, the district recorded 25 cases in Athmakur and Pulkal Primary Health Centres in 2019. Speaking to Telangana Today, District Malaria Officer Sriram Sudhakar said that Sangareddy district had 2,328 active cases who were getting Aasara pensions. Saying that they had carried a mass drug administration to prevent the infection, Sudhakar said that they have also conducted the tests this year, but found no new cases.
In Medak district, DMHO Venkateshwarlu said that they have recorded one case at Chelmada of Nizamapet Mandal in the year 2021. The district was having 1,600 active cases who were getting pension.
