Two Gurunanak College students killed, two injured in Ibrahimpatnam accident

Two Gurunanak College students were killed and two others injured after a speeding Ashok Leyland auto-rickshaw rammed into five students walking near JB Venture in Ibrahimpatnam on Wednesday night. Police registered a case and are investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident.

Hyderabad: Two students of Gurunanak College were killed and two others injured after a speeding vehicle rammed into a group of students near JB Venture in Ibrahimpatnam in Ranga Reddy district on Wednesday night.

According to police, the accident occurred around 9.30 pm when five students residing in hostels near Gurunanak College were walking on the roadside after having dinner. An Ashok Leyland auto-rickshaw coming from the Mall gram panchayat side at high speed hit them from behind. While one student escaped unhurt, the other four sustained serious injuries.

Harsha (18), a first-year B.Tech (IT) student, died on the spot. He was a resident of Nizamabad and was staying at TSR Hostel near Gurunanak College.

Another student, Shivaraj (18), a resident of Nirmal district, succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment at Mahanthi Hospital.

The injured students were identified as Akshay (18), a first-year B.Tech Data Science student from Karimnagar, and Kaumudi Reddy (18), also a first-year B.Tech Data Science student from Karimnagar. Both are undergoing treatment at Mahanthi Hospital.

The driver of the vehicle, identified as Buri Narayya (50), an auto driver from Nagole and a native of Andugula in Nalgonda district, also sustained injuries and is receiving treatment.

Police have registered a case and are investigating the circumstances that led to the accident.
