Hyderabad: Two persons who were allegedly organizing betting on the ongoing IPL cricket matches were nabbed by the Rachakonda police here on Monday. Rs.1 lakh and three mobile phones were seized from them.

Acting on a tip off, the police caught K Ramakrishna Raju (40), a sub bookie and P Sridhar (42), a punter while they were accepting bets on the ongoing IPL matches in an office in Yadagiripally village in Keesara.

“Raju was organizing the online cricket betting racket with the help of one Chaitanya Varma of Vizag and accepting the bets through e-wallets and online payment modes,” Rachakonda Police Commissioner Mahesh Bhagwat said.

On information, the Malkajgiri Police Special Operations Team raided the office at Keesara and caught Raju and Sridhar. Efforts are on to nab Varma.
