Hyderabad: The LB Nagar police on Saturday caught two persons on charges of stealing tyres of parked cars and selling them online. Police seized cash of Rs 2 lakh, 47 car tyres and a car, all put together worth Rs 7 lakh.
The arrested persons are M Srikanth (24) and G Balakishan (25), both car drivers from Pochampally in Yadadri-Bhongir district. They were allegedly involved in 29 theft cases in Hyderabad, Cyberabad and Rachakonda.
According to the police, the duo who are close friends plotted to steal tyres along with alloy wheels from cars parked in residential areas. They committed 29 offences and had so far stolen 68 tyres worth Rs 7 lakh.
They did recce of residential colonies in a car with fake number plates and later, committed offences. Srikanth was earlier involved in a similar case in Neredmet.
They were caught by the police team while moving suspiciously near Nagole cross roads and were produced before the court and remanded in judicial custody.
