Hyderabad: The Chilkalguda police arrested two persons who allegedly cheated car owners after taking their vehicles on rent. The police recovered eight cars from them.
The arrested persons are Sangishetty Praveen Kumar (44) and G Amarendar (32), both residents of Secunderabad. Their associate, Md Rizwan of Mustaidupura, Karwan, is absconding.
According to DCP (East) B Balaswamy, the gang lured car owners by offering high payments for renting their vehicles. In one case, they promised Rs 20,000 a month for a five-seater car and Rs 25,000 a month for a seven-seater car.
“Lured by the offer, a car owner provided eight vehicles to the gang a few months ago. After taking the vehicles, the gang did not pay the rent. Instead, Praveen, Rizwan and Amarendar sold the vehicles to some persons and cheated the car owner,” said DCP Balaswamy.
Following a complaint from the victim, the police registered a case and arrested two persons, while their associate remains absconding.
