Hyderabad: Prohibition and Excise Department sleuths on Sunday arrested two persons on charges of possessing dry marijuana, which was meant to be sold to persons known to them in the city.
Eight kgs of marijuana, three mobile phones and two motorcycles were seized from the possession of the arrested persons identified as Satish Singh (22), a resident of Lower Dhoolpet, and Thakur Akash Singh (23), a resident of Karwan, said N Anjireddy, Assistant Excise Superintendent, Enforcement, Hyderabad.
Satish and Akash were nabbed near Puranapul based on reliable information received by the excise officials. During interrogation, the duo revealed that they were doing marijuana business with the help of Ranjitha (38), a resident of Dhoolpet.
A month ago, Task Force police seized 26 kgs of marijuana from two sons of Ranjitha at her house in Mohandas Mutt. In that case, Ranjitha was absconding.
Ranjitha with the help of her associates was receiving the contraband from two suppliers Shekar alias Rajashekar and Chintu, both natives of Visakhapatnam. She was, in turn, selling it to local sellers Ritesh and Pradeep Singh, both residents of Dhoolpet, and Gayatri Bai of Tilaknagar.
Shekar, Chintu, Ritesh, Pradeep and Gayatri along with Ranjitha were absconding in the case.
