Hyderabad: The Chaitanyapuri Police have arrested two interstate offenders involved in a series of gold chain snatching incidents across the LB Nagar zone.
The arrests were made in Delhi following a swift investigation using technical surveillance and field intelligence on Monday.
The suspects, Akshay Kumar Sharma (29) and Rohit (26), both food delivery boys by profession and residents of Delhi–NCR, allegedly carried out multiple chain snatchings on January 17, targeting women in areas under Hayathnagar, Nagole, and Chaitanyapuri police station limits.
Police said after committing the offences, the duo abandoned their motorcycle near Sangeeth Theatre crossroads in Secunderabad and fled to Delhi.
Special police teams tracked the suspects using CCTV footage, call data records, and tower dump analysis, leading to their arrest in Delhi.
Police recovered three stolen gold chains weighing a total of 55.2 grams and two mobile phones from them.
Officials said the suspects were habitual offenders with a long criminal history involving property crimes in Delhi and Nagpur. They were earlier arrested by Nagpur Police in July 2025 and, after being released from jail, resumed criminal activities in Hyderabad, committing at least seven chain snatchings across multiple police station limits.
Police have requested citizens to remain vigilant, especially in crowded and isolated areas, and to report any suspicious activity immediately to the police or Dial 100.
