Two key Congress leaders join BRS in Kothagudem, MP Vaddiraju welcomes the leaders

In a political setback for the Congress party in Yellandu constituency, senior leaders Bhukya Dal Singh Naik and Lakkineni Surender joined the BRS on Sunday. Both leaders, influential in Tekulapalli mandal, were welcomed into the party by Rajya Sabha MP Vaddiraju Ravichandra following instructions from KT Rama Rao.

Kothagudem: Congress party suffered a setback in Yellandu constituency in the backdrop of ongoing gram panchayat elections as two senior leaders of the party joined BRS on Sunday.

The leaders Bhukya Dal Singh Naik and Lakkineni Surender, influential leaders with a strong base in the crucial Tekulapalli mandal of the constituency, left the Congress party and joined the BRS.

Prior to joining the BRS the two leaders spoke to BRS working president KT Rama Rao over the phone. Following his instructions, Rajya Sabha MP Vaddiraju Ravichandra welcomed the two leaders into the party.

Dal Singh Naik, who was heartbroken after the local MLA Koram Kanakaiah allegedly cheated him by preventing him from contesting for the sarpanch seat even as he and his family had carried the Congress flag for forty years.

DCCB director and Bethampudi PACS chairman Lakkineni Surender also left the Congress and decided to rejoin the BRS, which he had quit during the Assembly elections to join Congress.

Along with them, 11 ward members who were unanimously elected from Chukkala Boddu thanda and Excise Dasu thanda as well as former CPI (ML) party commander Punem Narsaiah joined the BRS party.

Former Yellandu MLA Banoth Haripriya Naik, former District Library chairman Dindigala Rajender, Tekulapalli mandal BRS president Bommera Varaprasad and others were present.
