Hyderabad: In a tragic incident, two persons were killed after a speeding container truck rammed into a parked car on the Outer Ring Road (ORR) near Shamirpet on Monday afternoon.
The incident occurred near Exit-7 on the ORR under the Shamirpet police limits, when an Audi car travelling from Medchal towards Shamirpet had reportedly stopped by the roadside. A few occupants had stepped out of the vehicle and were standing behind it while having food.
At that moment, a container truck coming at high speed went out of control and crashed into the stationary car. In the impact, two men believed to be residents of Moula Ali, who were standing behind the vehicle, suffered severe multiple bleeding injuries and died on the spot.
On receiving information, the Shamirpet police rushed to the accident spot and took up investigation.
Preliminary investigation suggested that overspeeding and suspected drunken driving by the container driver may have led to the accident. The CCTV footage of the surveillance cameras at the mishap site and the roads leading to it are being examined by police for more details.
A case has been registered, and further investigation is ongoing. The bodies were shifted to the hospital for an autopsy.
