Mahabubnagar: Two persons were killed and four others injured in a head-on collision between a car and a tipper lorry on the Mahabubnagar-Raichur National Highway near Gopalapuram village in Devarakadra on Tuesday evening. The deceased were identified as Basavaraj Nandikolmath (58) and Jangamamurthy (67).

According to reports, the car driver tried to overtake a vehicle near Gopalapuram and collided with the coal-laden tipper coming from the opposite direction. The impact of the accident was such that the car was totally destroyed. The driver got stuck in the car and it took considerable time to remove him and shift to a nearby hospital.
