Two killed, three injured as car rams tanker in Rangareddy
According to the police, the car, in which five persons were travelling crashed into the tanker on the NH 44 around 2.30 am. The family was from Saidabad in the city and was travelling in the car from Shadnagar after visiting a temple.
Hyderabad: Two members of a family were killed while three others, including two children, were injured in an accident involving a car and tanker at Kothur mandal in Ranga Reddy district in the wee hours of Saturday.
According to the police, five persons Karanam Satyanarayana (75), Kalyan Chakravarthy (40), Sarada (46), Hamsa (13) and Raghunath (10) were returning in the car from Tirumala to their residence in Saidabad when the accident took place around 2.20 am.
“When the car reached Thimmapur village junction on the NH 44, Kalyan who was driving apparently lost control and the car rammed a tanker which was taking a turn towards the village,” said Mohd Sayeed, Sub-inspector (Kothur), adding that such was the impact of the crash that the frontside of the car got stuck under the tanker.
On being alerted by passersby, the Kothur police rushed to the spot and with the help of villagers, pulled out the car. They found that Kalyan died on the spot while Satyanarayana was rushed to Osmania Hospital, where he died while under treatment. The condition of Sarada and Hamsa, who are among the three injured undergoing treatment, was stated to be critical.
The police have registered a case and are investigating.
