Two minors among eight arrested for harassing minor girl in Adilabad

Adilabad: Eight persons, including two minors, were arrested for allegedly harassing a minor girl by sharing her private videos with others in Gudihathnoor mandal centre on Sunday. Police also seized seven mobile phones from the accused.
Utnoor ASP Kajal Singh said the arrested included two minors aged 15 and 16, along with Sajjanar Vamshi, Pawar Tharun, Samble Balavanth, Gundalwar Varun, Karad Sudhir and Murket Vittal, all from various villages in Gudihathnoor mandal.
During interrogation, one of the minors confessed to befriending the girl on social media by posing as a childhood friend. He blackmailed her into sharing private videos by threatening to reveal screenshots of their chats to her parents, and later shared the videos with others.
The other accused were found to have further circulated the videos. The girl eventually informed her father, who filed a complaint with the Echoda police. A case was registered under relevant sections of the POCSO Act, and a special team was formed to apprehend the offenders.
