Two smugglers held with 82 kg ganja at Kunavaram checkpost

Kothagudem: Excise enforcement personnel seized ganja being smuggled from Malkangiri district of Odisha to Kerala in a car and arrested two smugglers.

The substance was seized during inspections at Kunavaram road RTO checkpost. About 82 kgs of ganja was found hidden in a special compartment made behind the back seats of the car in plastic covers.

The enforcement team led by CI Sunkari Ramesh seized the car along with ganja. The accused Kottapanju Bakruddeen and Abdhal Nizad, who were smuggling the ganja, were arrested. The case was handed over to Bhadrachalam excise police.

The seized car, two cell phones and ganja were estimated to be worth Rs 1 crore. Excise Enforcement Director VB Kamalasan Reddy and Khammam Assistant Commissioner Ganesh appreciated CI Ramesh, Head Constable Balu, constables Sudheer, Venkat, Harish and Vijay for seizing the ganja.
