Hyderabad: Two persons who were involved in 77 cases of theft of copper coils from electric transformers were arrested by the Rachakonda police on Wednesday. The police recovered property valued at Rs 25.06 lakh from them.
The arrested persons were Nandulal Rajbar (35) and Abhimanyu Rajbar (29), both staying at Rajendranagar and natives of Uttar Pradesh. Two of their accomplices, Sahdev and Rahul Rajbar, were absconding.
Rachakonda Police Commissioner Mahesh M Bhagwat said the suspects were previously involved in 32 cases in Rachakonda and Sanga Reddy district. “The gang moved around different areas during the night and defused electrical transformers with sticks. Afterwards, using sticks and ropes they pulled down the transformers, removed the copper coils and other material from it before leaving the place,” he said.
The police recovered a car, four bikes and Rs 18.60 lakh from them.
