Two woman killed in Nagrkurnool, one in Gadwal due to lightning strikes

Mahabubnagar: Three persons, including two women and a man were killed and another woman sustained injuries after being struck by lightning in different incidents in Nagarkurnool and Jogulamda Gadwal districts on Thursday.
Residents of Kodinapally, Sunkari Saidamma (40) and Gajula Veeramma (60) along with other women were working in the agricultural fields.
Suddenly heavy rains accompanied by thunderstorms lashed several parts in the district. Both Saidamma and Veeramma died on the spot after being struck by lightning and another woman Sunkari Laxmamma suffered injuries. The injured was immediately shifted to the government hospital in Padara mandal, according to reports
In a similar incident, one person died after being struck by lightning at Chandrashekharnagar under Manopad mandal in Jogulamba Gadwal district. A farmer lost two oxen after lightening struck them at Macharla village, Gattu in Gadwal.
Many Mango farmers complained that they suffered losses due to the heavy rains on Thursday. Farmers in Ravulacheruvu under Itikyala mandal said mango fields spread over 55 acres in the village were damaged due to the rains.
Likewise, maize crops were damaged in Rajole mandal and chilly crops were damaged in Undavalli mandal in the district, according to reports.
