Hyderabad: A two-year-old girl died under suspicious circumstances at Mangalhat on Tuesday night.
According to the police, Laxmi (29) along with her daughter Renuka stayed near Seetharambagh temple earning livelihood by collecting plastic trash from the streets.
On Tuesday night, the woman who was in an inebriated condition was sitting along with the child when she noticed that the girl was not responding to her calls and reportedly hit her. “The woman hit the girl many times. Locals noticed it and immediately informed the police about it. When the police reached there, they found the child had died,” said Inspector Mangalhat, N Ravi.
The child was taken to hospital where the doctors pronounced her dead. The body was shifted to mortuary.
“After autopsy the doctors in preliminary opinion stated that the girl died due to internal injuries and there were no external marks. As of now a case under 174 of CrPC is booked and investigation going on,” the Inspector added.
