Two years of Congress rule: Adilabad farmers slap themselves with footwear
Farmers in Mukhra (K) village staged a rare protest by beating themselves with slippers to express anger against the Congress government. They alleged delays in Rythu Bharosa payments and fertiliser shortages, saying poll promises had not been fulfilled.
Farmers slap themselves with their footwear at Mukhra (K) village in Echoda mandal on Tuesday.
Adilabad: Resenting that the two-year-long Congress ruling was nothing short of slapping themselves with slippers, residents staged a unique protest by beating themselves using their own footwear at Mukhra (K) village on Tuesday.
Men from the village gathered at a farm and took part in the protest, expressing their ire against the government for failing to fulfill its poll promises. They regretted that farmers were facing an acute shortage of urea ever since the party assumed power, while waiting to receive Raithu Bharosa crop investment support from the government for two years.
The agitators stated that the Congress duped the farmers and said the party punished them and taught a bitter lesson for voting it to power. They recalled that they were getting the crop investment support on time during the regime of BRS, besides availing fertilizers without a problem.
Former Sarpanch Gadge Meenakshi and ex-MPTC member Subhash and scores of farmers were present.
