Nirmal: In a tragic incident, two youngsters drowned in Gaddennavagu minor irrigation project when they along with four others were picnicking at the waterbody in Bhainsa mandal centre on Monday. Bhainsa police said that the drowned were Syed Sohail (21) and Syed Firoz (21) of Bhainsa town.

Sohail and Firoz met a watery grave when they were trying to watch fishing by local fishermen in the project. Sohail fell in the deep water of the project as he stood on a slippery rock. Feroz attempted to save Sohail. However, both of them drowned as they were not familiar with swimming.

Their four friends raised an alarm and the fishermen tried to save the duo, but in vain. All of them were picnicking on the banks of the project. A case was registered based on a complaint received from family members of one of the victims. Investigations got underway.
