Khammam: Two youths, who had broken into a dhaba allegedly to commit theft, got heavily intoxicated, slept in the dhaba and were caught by the owner at daybreak on Sunday.
According to sources, in the incident that took place in Edulapuram municipality limits, the youths entered the dhaba located near the Khammam-Kuravi main road during the night on Friday. They reportedly gathered some goods to steal.
However, upon spotting a few liquor bottles in the dhaba, they consumed the drink, leaving aside their original task, and, as they were overtaken by intoxication, remained inside the dhaba even as the clock struck 8:30 am.
When the dhaba owner, Vempati Ramesh, arrived in the morning, he was shocked to find the youths in a drunken stupor. When they attempted to attack him, he managed to escape and immediately alerted Khammam rural police.
The police arrived at the scene, apprehended the miscreants and questioned them. The identity of the youths was not known yet, and no complaint was registered regarding the incident.
