Two youths rescued after being swept away in Majeera river
In a dramatic rescue operation near Edupayala temple in Medak, two youths from Kukatpally were saved after being swept away by the swollen Manjeera river. The incident occurred during an idol immersion ritual when one youth slipped and another followed in an attempt to save him.

Medak: Two youngsters had a miraculous escape after being swept away in the Manjeera river and clinging onto a rock for hours on Saturday.
According to Papannapet police, about 20 youths from Kukatpally in Medak district visited the Edupayala temple to immerse the goddess Kanakadurga idol near the check dam across the river. After completing the ritual, they entered the river, which was in spate, for a dip when one of them, Vinay, slipped into the waters. In an attempt to save him, another youth, Sai, also got swept away.
Both managed to grab a rock and climb onto it, while their friends alerted the local police. Papannapet SI Srinivas Goud immediately contacted SP DV Srinivas Rao, who dispatched a rescue team. After hours of effort, the team managed to bring both youths to safety.
SI Srinivas Goud said police had been repeatedly cautioning people to stay away from the swollen river and stressed that individuals must take responsibility for their own safety.
