Dubai: Touched by the desperate situation of bereaved families who lost their sole breadwinners in the latest Dubai Road mishap where seven workers died, a leading healthcare entrepreneur and philanthropist has stepped in to provide a sigh of relief.

Dr. Shamsheer Vayalil, NRI entrepreneur, philanthropist, and Chairman and CEO of Burjeel Holdings unveiled the initiative to provide immediate financial relief to bereaved families and support those recovering from injuries sustained in the accident.

He has announced a Rs 2.6 crore humanitarian recovery program for the families of those killed and injured in the tragic road accident on Dubai’s Emirates Road on Monday. Among the seven people killed, three were from Telangana’s Jagtial district.

He had added that the families of the seven deceased victims will receive Rs 26 lakh each, while Rs 47 lakh has been allocated to support the nine injured survivors based on medical and recovery needs.

Dr. Vayalil demonstrated his humanitarian gesture by allocating Rs 18 lakh for emergency travel and accommodation for family members, and Rs 13 lakh to support the education of children from affected families.

The latest donation continues a long-standing pattern of humanitarian intervention by the entrepreneur. By coordinating with the authorities back home in India, Dr Vayalil intends to ensure the relief reaches those most directly impacted by the tragedy.

“While we are coordinating with the Indian Consulate regarding affected Indian families, support will be extended to all individuals impacted by this tragedy, in recognition of our shared humanity,” Dr. Shamsheer said.
Expressing deep sorrow over the tragedy, he said the incident was a painful reminder of the sacrifices made by workers who live away from their families to support their loved ones.

“This is a heartbreaking tragedy that has affected families across countries. These were workers who came here with hopes, responsibilities, and dreams for their loved ones. No financial support can replace the lives lost, but we hope this assistance will bring some relief to the grieving families and help the injured during their recovery. We stand with every affected family in this difficult time,” Dr. Shamsheer added.

Dr. Shamsheer’s emergency support in similar tragedies has proved meaningful for affected families in the past as well. Following the Air India crash in Ahmedabad, he extended ₹6 crore in support to the families of medical students who died and were injured in the tragedy.

Dr. Vayalil’s contribution serves as a reminder of the role successful Indian business leaders play in providing both financial stability and moral support to their compatriots during times of tragedy.

Dr Shamsheer Vayalil is an Indian radiologist, businessman, and the founder and chairman of Burjeel Holdings, a leading healthcare services provider in the Gulf region. Over the past two decades, he has built a vast portfolio in healthcare, pharmaceuticals, and education fields. He was awarded the prestigious Pravasi Bharatiya Samman award.
