Jeddah: UAE and Oman have temporarily barred entry of passengers from India.
The travel ban comes into effect from Saturday, April 24, according to various airline sources.
With the number of Covid-19 cases in India on the upsurge, the members of Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) imposed travel restrictions from India as a precautionary measure.
This is in addition to Saudi Arabia and Kuwait where the ban has been existing for over a year.
However, there is no restriction on traveling to India from these countries.
Passengers who have transited through India in the last 14 days are also not permitted to board from any other point to these countries.
Travel plans of thousands of NRIs have gone awry with GCC imposing restrictions at the peak of vacation season which is Ramadan. Scores of Indians in Saudi Arabia and Kuwait already lost their jobs due to travel ban.
