UBS Athletics Kids Cup crowns young champions in Hyderabad
Avina, Thaswika and Lasya Sri emerged champions in the UBS Athletics Kids Cup held in Hyderabad. With 500 schools participating, the winners now move to the Grand Finale scheduled for December 19 at GMC Balayogi Stadium in Gachibowli
Hyderabad: Avina of Army Public School (Bolarum) in the under-7 category, Thaswika of Sri Gayatri High School (under-8) and Lasya Sri of Rajashree Vidyamandir (under-9) emerged champions in the UBS Athletics Kids Cup organized by Kindersports and DS Powerparts here.
About 500 schools participated in the initial rounds, from which the top students were selected to compete in today’s event.
Athens Olympian and one of the finest athletes from the city, JJ Shobha, gave away the prizes along with Mrudula Korada, former Asian Indoor Athletics bronze medallist.
“We are thrilled to see such passion and skill among children as young as six,” said Sai Addepalli, spokesperson for the event. “Events like the UBS Athletics Kids Cup help nurture future sporting potential and encourage children to stay active and confident.”
The top performers from the competition have earned their spots in the Grand Finale, scheduled for December 19 at the GMC Balayogi Stadium in Gachibowli.
