Jammu: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Monday announced ex-gratia relief from the CM’s relief fund for victims of a tragic road accident that claimed 21 lives and left 29 others injured in Jammu and Kashmir’s Udhampur district.
Officials said that a passenger bus rolled down a hillside at Kagort on the Ramnagar “Udhampur road, crushing an auto-rickshaw before landing upside down on the road below.

According to the announcement, an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh will be provided to the next of kin of each deceased, Rs 1 lakh to those seriously injured, and Rs 25,000 to persons who sustained minor injuries in the accident.

The chief minister asserted that while no amount of financial assistance can compensate for the irreparable loss of lives in the tragic incident, relief is being extended as an immediate measure to support the affected families. Abdullah reiterated that the government stands firmly with the victims and assured all possible assistance to those affected.
