Ugadi celebrations by Telangana NRIs in Oman on Friday, April 4
Dubai: The Telangana NRI community living in Oman celebrated Ugadi with pomp and spiritual fervour in Muscat on Friday.
Oman Telangana Samiti, a Telangana expatriate community organization in the Sultanate organized the event that witnessed participants from across Oman.
Predictions from Panchangam, an astrological almanac, were read out by Muscat-based well known Telangana priest Vijaya Pantulu. The traditional dish of Pacchadi was prepared by women and distributed to the participants. The women played an important role in organizing the event with various cultural activities.
“We have been conducting Ugadi and other major Telugu festivals since the inception of Telangana as a separate state,” said Gundeti Ganesh, convenor of Telangana Samiti. He expressed gratitude towards the Sultan for allowing and supporting ethnic diversity and cultural activities with the spirit of tolerance. Ganesh briefed the Telangana Samiti activities in cultural and community welfare fronts.
