Warangal: An autorickshaw driver, who has been unable to clear a loan taken to buy his vehicle due to low earnings in view of the steep hike in the fuel prices, has set in his vehicle on fire at Kaloji centre in Hanamkonda on Saturday.
Srinivas, a resident of Gundlasingaram village on the outskirts of the Warangal city, has taken a loan from a private finance company to purchase the vehicle to eke out a living.
Meanwhile, he had reportedly failed to pay the installment which resulted in pressure from the loan recovery agents of the company. Perturbed over this, Srinivas set the autorickshaw ablaze on the main road in the city.
However, the fire staff had doused the fire after some time. Passersby said that he was in an inebriated condition when the incident happened. It is said that he had told the passersby that he was resorting to this act as he was unable to pay the installment due to lockdown and subsequent conditions including the high price of the diesel.
