Hyderabad: There is uncertainty over Forest Minister Konda Surekha’s participation in the State Cabinet meeting scheduled at the Secretariat this afternoon. The political atmosphere remains tense following recent developments involving her former OSD N Sumanth.
Debates are rife in political circles over the entire episode. The Minister’s daughter, Konda Sushmita, alleged that her parents, Surekha and former MLC Konda Murali, were being specifically targeted by senior leaders within the government.
In contrast, Murali maintained that he had no disputes with Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy and expressed confidence that the Chief Minister would keep his word on allotting him an MLC post.
Amid these claims, AICC in-charge Meenakshi Natarajan reportedly spoke to Surekha over phone to discuss certain ‘issues’. The outcome of their conversation has not been disclosed, and the Minister is yet to address the media on the ongoing controversy.
The State Cabinet is expected to deliberate on several key issues, including the proposed Hyderabad Metro Rail takeover, Supreme Court directions on 42 percent reservations, irrigation projects and other administrative matters. The Forest Minister issue, however, is also likely to figure in the discussions.
