Hyderabad: One more underpass is coming up in the city to ease traffic chaos on the busy LB Nagar- Bairamalguda stretch. The underpass, being built near Kamineni Hospital, is being built at an estimated cost of Rs 20 crore and is likely to be inaugurated by January 31, 2022. The unidirectional facility is 520 metre long, 11 metre wide and is equipped with three lanes.
Once the facility is made available, commuters from LB Nagar (near Kamineni Hospital) going towards Bairamalguda will experience a hassle-free commuting experience and can also skip the busy LB Nagar Junction.
Speaking to Telangana Today, commuters using the LB Nagar Road said the underpass would decrease commuting time and save fuel as well.
“During peak hours, traffic snarls at LB Nagar Junction is a common sight. This project is a sigh of relief as people will no longer have to wait at the junction and can cross it seamlessly using this facility. Time and fuel will be saved due to this project,” said Battula Mahesh, a college student.
The underpass works are underway at a brisk pace and construction of the retaining wall of the underpass has started. Following this, the service road beside the underpass has been closed for a month to facilitate the construction of this structure.
The project, being built under the State government’s Strategic Road Development Plan (SRDP), is one among the other projects already inaugurated in LB Nagar. The SRDP works that have decreased the traffic snarls in LB Nagar include the Right Hand Side (RHS) flyover near Kamineni Hospital, underpass near LB Nagar junction towards Bairamalguda, another underpass in Chintalkunta, LB Nagar LHS flyover and the Bairamalguda RHS flyover.
“LB Nagar is one of the major entry and exit points for people commuting from Hyderabad – Vijayawada (to and fro). The series of facilities developed by the State government in LB Nagar are benefitting lakhs of people every day,” said Vinod Kumar, a resident of Kothapet.
