Unemployed youth confront TJS chief Kodandaram in Hyderabad
TJS chief and MLC Prof. M Kodandaram faced protests from unemployed youth at Somajiguda Press Club in Hyderabad. The protesters questioned him over government job recruitment, the upper age limit and the Congress government's promise of two lakh jobs
Hyderabad: Telangana Jana Samithi (TJS) chief and MLC Prof. M Kodandaram faced the ire of unemployed youth at the Somajiguda Press Club here on Wednesday.
The MLC, who had come to attend a meeting, was mobbed by unemployed youth who questioned the Congress government’s hollow promises, including two lakh jobs. Mild tension prevailed as the protesters confronted him in the presence of media persons.
They raised concerns over the age limit for government jobs and asked the MLC why, when there was no upper age limit for political leaders, it was being enforced for government jobs.
“You can go to the Supreme Court even at the age of 60 and get an MLC post. But even at 30 years, when we have all requisite qualifications, are we not eligible to get a police job?” they questioned him.
“We voted for the Congress party because Prof. Kodandaram said so during the Assembly elections. As the TJS tied up with Congress, we believed there would be recruitment notifications for government jobs. The Congress government anyhow is not issuing large-scale recruitment notifications, but at least we want an increase in the upper age limit for jobs that have been notified. But the government is not bothered to address our issues,” said Indra Nayak, a representative of the Unemployed Youth JAC.
The MLC tried to pacify the protesters, saying he would not be able to talk to them then as he was getting late for an important press meet.
