Union government approves CS Ramakrishna Rao’s extension

The Union Government has approved a seven-month extension for Telangana Chief Secretary K. Ramakrishna Rao from September 1, 2025, to March 31, 2026. This unusual tenure extension, the second of its kind, has sparked debates in political circles.

Hyderabad: The union Government has approved the extension of Chief Secretary K Ramakrishna Rao for a period of seven months from September 1, 2025 to March 31, 2026.

The State government had appealed to the union Government to extend the service of the Chief Secretary on July 30.
Generally, the union Government extends the Chief Secretary’s service by three months to six months. The extension of Ramakrishna Rao’s service by seven months has triggered debates in political circles.
