Hyderabad: A spirited friendly polo match was played at the Roude Léiw Polo Club (RLPC) between a visiting United States team and a home RLPC selection following the cancellation of the main 8th International Luxembourg Polo Cup due to an exceptional heatwave affecting Luxembourg and large parts of Europe.

The USA team featured Steven Rudolph (team captain, handicap -1), Jacek Grotnik (0), Augie Grotnik (0) and Drew Carleton (-1), all representing the Myopia Polo Club / Harvard University Polo Club, South Hamilton, Massachusetts, United States of America.

The RLPC Home Selection comprised Leopold Ludorf (handicap 1), Cristian Bravo (1), Sasha Laporta (-2) and Alexander Ludorf (0).

In a closely contested match, the United States team secured a narrow 6-5 victory over the home side.

Despite the cancellation of the official tournament, the Roude Léiw Polo Club ensured the continuity of international sporting engagement by organising this friendly fixture, underscoring the enduring spirit of polo diplomacy and sportsmanship.

RLPC President Alexander Ludorf emphasized the importance of maintaining international sporting ties and extended an open invitation to Indian polo clubs and players for future editions of the Luxembourg Polo Cup. He described Luxembourg as “a unique meeting point of sport, business and international friendship in the heart of Europe”, adding that the club is ready to welcome India, including guest of honour Mohammad Shamsuddin of Hyderabad, to its polo grounds in upcoming editions.
