University of Hyderabad appoints anti-discrimination officer

University of Hyderabad appoints anti-discrimination officer

Hyderabad: In a move to foster inclusivity and safeguard student rights, the University of Hyderabad (UoH) on Friday appointed an anti-discrimination officer.

Jai Prakash Gautam, a professor with School of Engineering Science and Technology, has been given charge as anti-discrimination officer for a period of three years. He is tasked with receiving complaints about discrimination or harassment in writing from students or parent of students irrespective of whether the discrimination or harassment is alleged to have taken place within or outside the institution.


In case of students, the office should submit the report, along with recommendations, to the University for taking appropriate action. In the case of teachers and non-teaching staff, the officer should submit the inquiry to the university competent authority who will initiate an action as per UGC rules and regulations.

Meanwhile, the UoH administration appointed Prof Kham Khan Suan Hausing, School of Social Sciences, as a liaison officer on matters related to SCs and STs for a period of three years. Prof. Hausing has been tasked to ensure compliance with orders of reservation for SCs and STs besides disposal of grievances of the employees.
