Unlicensed chilli seeds worth Rs 4.75 lakh seized in Kothagudem

During the raid, around 14.45 kgs of unlicensed seeds were seized, the ASP said.

Kothagudem: Police seized unlicensed chilli seeds worth Rs 4.75 lakh and booked a case against a person at Edulla Bayyaram police station in the district on Monday.

Manuguru ASP Shabarish P informed mediapersons that following a tip off a raid was conducted on the residence of the accused, Bathula Lakshminarayana, at Duginepalli village under the limits of Edulla Bayyaram police station.


During the raid, around 14.45 kgs of unlicensed seeds were seized, the ASP said. He warned that serious action would be taken against those selling unauthorised and spurious seeds to farmers.

PD Act would be invoked against the traders if they were caught selling spurious seeds. Edulla Bayyaram CI, Domala Ramesh and mandal Agriculture Officer Venkateshwarlu took part in the raid, he added.
